Why Dharma Dance?
Dance connects us with our bodies, hearts and minds and also with each other. Dance is an expression of our true Self. Relearning and regularly practicing authentic and natural movement is essential for maintaining healthy patterns of mobility, respiration, relaxation, cognition and more. Dance and conscious movement can help you to eliminate pain, reduce stress, increase strength and flexibility, and improve body image. Dancing is an effective method to build confidence, increase compassion and connection (through kinesthetic empathy) and embody more of your Self.
Movement is Meditation is Medicine...
Through focusing our attention in a dance or movement practice, we shine the light of awareness onto habits and patterns that we have unconsciously developed. By bringing consciousness to outdated modes of being, movement and expression, we open to explore new possibilities of being and perceiving. New ways of connecting and relating to ourselves and others often begin to present themselves after just one Dharma Dance experience.
The love of dance and movement eventually becomes the movement and dance of LOVE. This is a personal, social and cultural movement revolution literally based, founded, and expressed solely in LOVE.
This is the infinite space, where anything is possible, described by saints, sages, mystics, poets, and healers where movement, meditation and energy converge (converse and consciously merge) and we remember that movement and meditation were some of the first medicines practiced by our ancestors. As the Native American saying goes, “You are the dancing prayers of your Ancestors”
